Frequently the relationship between executive coach and client becomes ongoing on an ‘as and when required’ basis, giving the client an opportunity to share new ideas or problem solve with an outside party who understands them and their business. This can be a valuable and insightful process, with the objective always to meet the needs of the client.

Mentoring implies a longer, less formal and structured relationship which, nevertheless, can be extremely powerful and beneficial over the medium to long term.

THE COACHING PROCESS

BUSINESS COACHING

The process starts with an initial discussion where I will seek to understand your objectives, the level of your existing skills, knowledge, behaviours and your motivation. I’ll then select the most appropriate approach to take, whether this is career coaching, performance coaching or another form of service.

The time frame for the coaching relationship is dependent on the issues to be addressed. There are situations when objectives can be achieved within a couple of sessions and in other cases the relationship can go on for longer.

Single sessions where coaching is required on a specific skill are also available. A typical example of where this may apply includes presentation or media skills in the run up to a big meeting or a press interview. This works very well when some intensive coaching is required and a course is either not immediately available or would not be appropriate because of time pressures or the need for confidentiality.

Business coaching services work most effectively when you have clarity about the issues to be addressed. These might be personal gremlins, perceived to obstruct performance, certain issues which are best addressed on a one-to-one basis rather than in a formal director training session, or knowledge, skills and behaviours that you will need in order to progress into a future role.

Our initial discussion will help to ensure that this clarity can be achieved early on in the process, ensuring that the most appropriate approach is used from the start.

  • Articulate clearly what you want.

  • Understand your part in the way things are.

  • Examine your options for moving forward.

  • Create and deliver achievable plans for reaching your goals.

WHY COACHING

WHAT I DO

With increasing seniority comes more and more ambiguity and complexity - and less and less support to deal with them. Our coaching programme supports you on today's challenges whilst equipping you for tomorrow.

Coaching enables you to:

  • Realign your goals and your work

  • Increase your performance

  • Develop your capabilities and personal awareness

  • Boost your confidence and enjoyment

  • Raise your motivation and sharpen your focus

  • Improve your impact on others

Like all our services this can be tailored to meet your needs. Most commonly though it takes the form of a coaching package which includes:

  • An introductory session at which your issues and needs are identified and you make a decision about whether to proceed

  • Four coaching sessions of 60-90 minutes each, spaced to suit you

  • Unlimited telephone and e-mail support between sessions

  • An evaluation of success against your goals
